Benefit and Access Daily Price Via SMS Service

Here you will find all the information in order to use our SMS service to get daily price information in the whole country.

The SMS service is used for collecting and disseminating wholesale selling price information for vegetables-fruit, meat and cereal sold by whole sale traders in 27 markets from around Cambodia.

All SMS’ users especially farmers and traders can access agricultural price information quickly anywhere and anytime. To achieve this, whole sale traders in vegetable-fruit, meat and cereal submit prices directly into the database via SMS. One can get the price information by sending a text message system with a specific commodity and market using code (commodity and market table) and the system will reply with the price for that product and market. The submission of prices can only be done by registered traders; however, everyone can use the system to receive price information.

Price information collected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (MAFF) data collectors are also uploaded in the system. The prices from the PDAFF’s data collectors are average prices in the market and collected three times a week. Where as prices from the traders are received on a daily basis, normally during the early trading hours of the day.

SMS System users can access as following:

SMS system is a simple system where can use with a normal phone (not smart phone). With SMS system, users can benefit as below:

  1. Find wholesale selling commodity price (vegetable, meat and cereal)
  2. Find phone contact number of wholesalers around country
  3. Submit wholesale prices (only wholesalers who have registered with SMS system)

Step 1: Find the averages prices in the market

In order to find the price of specific commodity and market do the following:

  1. Find the product code and the market code (in commodity and market tables) for which you want to know the price information. The codes are listed at the end of this homepage. 
  2. For example, we want to find a commodity “Chinese Kale” [code:200] and market “Deumkor” [code:772]
  3. Type the message box, using the product code followed by the market code: 200772
  4. Send the message to the SMS service phone number: 5100 (CellCard and Smart) or 060 96 5100 (MetFone)
  5. Receive the reply:

The reply message will reply with the price in the Deumkor Market [772] but also other nearby markets 

Message Interpretation:

200 = Chinese Kale

772 = Deumkor Market

R3500 = The average price is 3,500 Riel/Kg

T19 = there are 19 traders of Chinese Kale of in Deumkor Market

3 = 3 traders from Deumkor Market have submitted prices for Chinese Kale

P0 = No producer of Chinese Kale had submitted a offer price

Date:15.04 = Date price submission is 15 April

780 = Chba Ampov Market

R4000 = The average price is 4,000 Riel/Kg

T8 = There are 8 traders of Chinese Kale in Chba Ampov Market

6 = 6 traders from Deumkor Market have submitted prices for Chinese Kale

P0 = No producer of Chinese Kale have supplied a price offer

Date:15.04 = Date price submission is 15 April

(If you use the system you will find that you do not only get the price in one market but also other nearby markets)

Step 2: Find the prices from traders of a product in a market

In order to find he prices of the traders of a particular product at a specific market, do the following: 

As an example we will use the commodity “Chinese Kale” [code:200] and the market “Deumkor” [code:772])

  1. Type the message, using “T” for trader, and the product code followed by the market code: T 200772
  2. Send the message to the SMS service phone number: 5100 (CellCard or Smart) 060 96 5100 (MetFone)
  3. Receive the reply:

Message Interpretation

092230286 = the trader’s phone number

Phea = the trader’s name

R3500 = the trader’s most recently updated price for that product

Date:15.04 = the price was submitted the 15th April

017566253 = the trader’s phone number

Charin = the trader’s name

R1700 = the trader’s most recently updated price for that product

Date:15.04 = the price was submitted the 15th April

(If you use the system you will find that you get the prices of all the traders who receive a price in the last two days. After two days prices are considered out of date and will not be shown.)

Step 3: How to submit the selling prices

Traders who have registered with our SMS service, can submit the selling price for a commodity, this can only be done from the phone number with which they have registered. Traders are registered by market and therefore do not need to indicate the market code when submitting a price.

In order to submit your selling price for a particular product, do the following:

(As an example, we will use the commodity “Chinese Kale” [code:200] which we want to sell for Riel 1000)

  1. Type the message, using “s” for sale price, and the product code followed by the price at which you sell the commodity: S2001000
  2. Send the message to the SMS service phone number: 5100 (CellCard or Smart) and 06096 5100 (MetFone)
  3. Receive the reply: 0000 price is updated: [200] R1000

Message Interpretation:

0000 price is updated: [200] R12000 = You successfully updated the price, the new price is 1000 Riel

Note: you can submit price more than one commodity (up to 15 commodities)

Response Messages:

Below you will find some of the response messages that the SMS system may send you.

Response Code Response Meaning

0000 The price you submitted has been successfully added to the database

1111 The message sent was incorrectly coded

2222 The message sent can not be submitted by an unregistered user

4444 No trader or producer found for this product

5555 No price found for this product

6666 Incorrect price data has been submitted

7777 Incorrect product code
